What do you enjoy most about wealth management?
Helping families “engage” their assets more productively. Helping clients make a clear choice about a complex financial issue they are facing.
What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?
I love making a difference for the two communities we serve: our clients and our people.
What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
Building the first national, independent and objective firm, offering comprehensive “in-house” services. Establishing a broad-based employee-ownership model. Staying focused and committed to our vision on behalf of our clients through one of the worst economic downturns in recent memory.
What qualities of yours make you best suited to what you do?
My passion, vision, and unwavering commitment to building the ultimate client service firm.
How should people think about their wealth?
Wealth means something different to each person. But no matter how you define it, wealth can have a productive or destructive influence on the human experience. At a minimum, your wealth should provide you with peace of mind.
What do you love to do outside of work?
Travel with my wife, two children and our dog Winston. Go to UCLA football and basketball games. Stay in shape.
What would you be doing if you weren't working for Aspiriant?
I'm one of the founders, so it's hard to imagine not working for Aspiriant.
Rob is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aspiriant. As Aspiriant’s CEO, Rob spends most of his time driving the firm’s vision and expanding its culture into new markets. Under his leadership and vision, Aspiriant has grown into one of the largest independently owned wealth management firms in the country.
Rob began his career in the personal financial and investment planning profession in 1988. Over the course of his career, he has launched several successful businesses and business lines within larger organizations. Most recently, he was the co-founder and CEO of Quintile Wealth Management, one of the predecessor firms that merged to form Aspiriant in 2008.
Prior to starting Quintile, Rob was a tax partner with Deloitte & Touche, LLP in the Los Angeles office and head of its Technology Industry Practice for the Southwest Region.
During his 11 years at Deloitte & Touche, Rob focused on serving the planning needs of family-owned businesses and their owners, and specialized in advising families on how best to manage these highly appreciated illiquid assets in the context of their personal wealth and taxation structure. During his tenure, Rob advised many families on the complex issues related to events such as succession of the business, mergers, acquisitions, and initial public offerings, and helped many of them successfully transition to managing their liquid wealth.
Rob holds a BS in Economics and Finance, with an emphasis in business administration, from the UCLA. He is a California Certified Public Accountant and frequently speaks at industry conferences. Over the years, Rob has been a regular guest lecturer of Economics at UCLA and taught Taxation at the University of Southern California.
