I'd be managing a charitable foundation, since it combines the benefits of helping people in need with the challenges of running a business.

What was the most influential book you've read and why?

The Diary of Anne Frank. I read it in high school when I was the same age as the author. It brought to life the pain, fear and suffering of the times.

Bio

Mike brings more than 20 years of professional experience servicing high net-worth individuals and families. He has worked extensively in the areas of trust, estate, gift and individual taxation, as well as investment and financial planning. In addition, Mike advises families on planning and the operational aspects of investment and charitable entities such as family limited partnerships, closely held corporations, and family foundations. He is a member of Aspiriant’s Client Service Committee and also serves as the leader of the of the Tax Services Team for the firm.

Prior to joining Aspiriant Mike was a principal at myCFO and also spent 10 years working for a “Big Four” public accounting firm.

Mike earned a BA degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Hawaii. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Oregon and Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants.
