Giving clients clarity and peace of mind.

The constant flow of negative information, and the lack of political leadership to solve our most pressing issues.

What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?

My colleagues — they are the best in the business. And our role as a fiduciary, providing advice that's in the best interest of our clients.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

Earning recognition by Working Mother Magazine on their Top Wealth Advisor Mom list and making Forbes’ Best-in-State and Top Women Wealth Advisors lists.

What quality of yours makes you best suited to do what you do?

My passion for solving problems and my genuine concern for our clients' well-being.

How should people think about their wealth?

Wealth should not be just a number, it should represent the opportunity to achieve your life’s goals.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Golf, read, go to sporting events (Packers, Marquette, Badgers, Notre Dame) and watch my daughters play sports.

What would you be doing if you weren’t at Aspiriant?

Volunteering for the causes and organizations that are important to me, mentoring young women about the financial planning profession, and traveling.

What's the most influential book you've read?

“To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

Raising two kind, confident and financially empowered young women with my husband.

Bio

Joining Aspiriant as a partner in 2010, Mary Ellen has spent her 20-year career helping clients and families make smart financial decisions.

Mary Ellen specializes in concentrated wealth, multi-generational planning, stock option planning, retirement planning, and philanthropic legacy planning. She works with many women in transition, corporate executives, retirees and business owners. She also serves on Aspiriant’s Editorial Committee.

Mary Ellen earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Mass Communication from Saint Mary’s College at Notre Dame, graduating Cum Laude. She is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and a member of the Investments and Wealth Institute. She began her career at Arthur Andersen and transitioned to Deloitte in 2002.

She has been named to the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor and Top Women Wealth Advisor lists in 2021 and 2022.

Mary Ellen is a TEMPO Milwaukee member, serving as Foundation Board Chair. She’s active with the University of Wisconsin Family Business Center, providing technical content and support to Wisconsin family businesses. She also serves on the investment committee for Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee.

Mary Ellen and her husband, John, have two daughters and live in Hartland, Wisc.
