Meet Corey

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

What I enjoy most about wealth management is having the opportunity to guide clients through meaningful conversations about their finances, helping them achieve clarity on their goals and ultimately bringing them a sense of peace and confidence in their financial future.

Whats the biggest challenge?

I think the biggest challenge is navigating conventional wisdom and “rules of thumb”. We often approach things with preconceived notions influenced by catchy headlines, anecdotes from friends and past experiences. However, these generalizations may not always fit a client’s unique situation. I focus on educating clients about the pros and cons of various strategies and illustrating why a tailored approach or strategy might be more effective for their specific needs.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am particularly proud of earning the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and completing the Investment Management Certificate Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am grateful to have had the guidance and support of several mentors who helped me achieve these accomplishments.

What quality of yours makes you best suited to what you do?

I would say my intellectual curiosity. I’m always eager to learn. Additionally, I tend to be a relatively calm and composed person, which can help me provide steady and thoughtful guidance when navigating ever changing markets.

How should people think about their wealth?

I view wealth as a tool to achieve specific objectives. How would you like to spend your wealth, how can it help support your family, future generations, and contribute to society at large?

What do you love to do outside of work?

I love spending quality time with my family and hanging out cheering on Wisconsin sports teams with close friends. I also enjoy golfing, reading non-fiction, gardening, watching movies and TV shows and playing the guitar.

What would you be doing if you weren't working for Aspiriant?

While my initial “backup” plan was to become a local golf professional, I’ve realized one of my passions is teaching. If not at Aspiriant, I could see myself as a teacher or involved in the educational field in some way.

What was the most influential book you've read and why?

I enjoy reading, and several books have influenced me over the years. One that particularly resonates with me is “The Daily Stoic” by Ryan Holiday, which offers Stoic insights that help me start each morning with a moment of reflection, preparing me for the day ahead. Other impactful reads include “Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage” by Alfred Lansing, “Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk” by Peter L. Bernstein, “Stray Reflections” by Jawad Mian, “Soul in the Game: The Art of a Meaningful Life” by Vitaliy Katsenelson, and “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles.
