What's the biggest challenge?
Bear markets! It’s difficult explaining to clients that their account has lost value.
What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?
Everyone is aligned with the same goal….helping the client.
What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
Earning my CPA and CFP® credentials.
What quality of yours makes you best suited to do what you do?
I am a good listener and I strive to develop a deep understanding of a client’s needs and intentions.
What do you love to do outside of work?
I enjoy being outdoors. I am lucky to live in beautiful San Diego where I can take walk on the beach, hike and play tennis all year round.
What would you be doing if you weren't working for Aspiriant?
I would be traveling in Asia. Thailand and Vietnam are on my current bucket list.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Getting both my daughters through high school and college. Gave me a few gray hairs, but got it done!
Bio
Sandra is currently a manager and principal of Aspiriant, a premier wealth management firm serving elite clientele. She was previously a financial planner and principal at Hokanson Associates before the company merged with Aspiriant. Her primary responsibilities include managing the day-to-day needs of clients, developing financial plans and financial reviews.
Sandra began her career in New York City as an auditor and then moved to San Diego where she worked in tax. She received her CPA license in 1991 and for 20 years assisted individuals and small business as a tax preparer and consultant. In 2009, she received her certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and launched a new career. She has worked as wealth strategy associate at a national and local financial services firm, where she was responsible for financial planning for high-net-worth individuals.
Sandra is active in the community of San Diego. She currently sits on the board of Community Resource Center whose mission is to provide families in need and victims of domestic violence with safety, stability and a path to self-sufficiency. She is also an active member of Children’s Hospital and Just in Time, an organization which assists foster youth transition to self-sufficiency and well-being.
Sandra enjoys spending time with her two daughters, skiing, and traveling.
Sandra earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Fordham University in 1986.
