Meet Jason

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

Getting to build close relationships with clients and helping to “quarterback” their financial lives so they can achieve their short- and long-term goals.

What's the biggest challenge?

Dealing with all the uncertainty embedded in financial markets and long-range financial plans. It would be great to have a crystal ball!

What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?

The amazing team of people I work with and Aspiriant’s culture of openness and intellectual honesty.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

Building my financial planning and organization knowledge to a point where I feel comfortable leading client service teams and mentoring the next generation of planners.

What quality of yours makes you best suited to what you do?

I am very task-oriented and put a priority on being responsive to people. This may fuel some of my more neurotic tendencies, but I know clients appreciate knowing that I am on top of things and that “to-dos” won’t fall through the cracks.

How should people think about their wealth?

Money in itself does not do anything — it is simply paper or digits on a screen. The value of money is that it serves as a tool by which people can experience a life of their choosing, with the flexibility to adapt and change their path along the way.

What do you love to do outside of work?

I love to play basketball, play guitar and experiment in the kitchen. I also serve on multiple non-profit boards, including seven years as a member of the granting committee for the non-profit organization, Jewish Helping Hands, which works with needy and vulnerable populations both in the United States and abroad to provide ground-level financial and hands-on support.

What would you be doing if you weren't working for Aspiriant?

If I was talented enough, professional basketball. But realistically, I would probably be doing non-profit work focused on economic development around the world. This ties together my love of travel with my faith in the power of smart economics to greatly improve the lives of billions of people.

What was the most influential book you've read and why?

“The Giver” by Lois Lowry. I read this many years ago (it’s a young adult’s book), and it was the book that turned reading into a passion for me, rather than an assignment.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

Somehow getting my amazing fiancé to say yes! I’m also proud to be an AmeriCorps alumnus and to remain involved in non-profit work.

Jason joined Aspiriant in 2015 as an associate in Wealth Management. He has over six years of experience within the financial services industry, with four of those years dedicated to serving high net worth individuals and families. In addition to his client service responsibilities, Jason is also a member of Aspiriant’s Next Generation Committee and Salesforce Platform Committee.

Prior to joining the firm, Jason spent two years as a proxy research analyst at Glass Lewis in San Francisco.

Jason earned a B.S. degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and graduated Cum Laude. Following college, Jason served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Watsonville, Calif., and then earned a Master’s in Finance from Golden Gate University.

Jason lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and loves to play basketball and music in his free time. He also enjoys whipping up meals in the kitchen, which generally turn out pretty tasty (but not always!).

Additionally, Jason works with multiple non-profit organizations, including serving as a member of the granting committee for the non-profit organization, Jewish Helping Hands, which works with needy and vulnerable populations both in the United States and abroad and serving on the board and investment committee of Menorah Park, which directly provides subsidized housing and support to lower-income seniors in San Francisco and provides grants to Bay Area organizations aiming to the same.
