Meet Gavin

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

It’s a career that provides for lifelong learning, and for me is the perfect balance between the soft and hard sciences.

What's the biggest challenge?

Helping clients maintain a longer-term focus while helping them to deal with what’s coming at them in the here and now.

What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?

Aside from being continually challenged by exceptional peers, it’s the meaningful relationships you get to build with people, both clients and co-workers.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

Completing a graduate degree, while studying for the CFA, working full time, and transitioning from a career in tech, all while my wife and I had baby twins.

What quality of yours makes you best suited to do what you do?

I don’t think it’s any one quality or skill, but rather a collection of skills and qualities that you can draw upon for the many different situations you face as wealth managers. Again, for me, it goes back to that balance between hard and soft sciences and being able to walk between the two.

What do you love to do outside of work?

I love to play tennis, it keeps me physically and mentally sharp. I also love to spend time with my family and travel. Getting to experience the world through the eyes of my kids is truly something I’m grateful for.

What was the most influential book you've read and why?

I read mostly non-fiction, but Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional works of the great detective Sherlock Holmes were among my favorites. There are so many quotes and anecdotes that can directly apply to what we do as wealth managers, and in life.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

There’s still so much to accomplish — ask me again in 40 or 50 years.
