Meet Tim
What do you enjoy most about wealth management?
The sense of relief that crosses a client’s face after we tackle a concerning challenge or collaborate to design a strategy that provides greater peace of mind.
What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?
I am thrilled to be part of such a dedicated, collaborative culture, aligned to value the best interest of our clients and our families so highly. The firm’s 100% employee-ownership and fiduciary structure ensure that we can operate without any pressure from profit-driven outside third-parties and we never receive commissions of any kind.
What quality of yours makes you best suited to what you do?
The openness and honesty I offer clients and stakeholders, so all parties involved gain confidence that my words are unbiased even if sometimes not what they want to hear.
How should people think about their wealth?
Personally, I am happiest when I connect wealth to everything we have in our lives instead of our investment accounts. I encourage clients to utilize their financial resources as a means to create joy for themselves, their families and the missions they value most.
What do you love to do outside of work?
Traveling to see our network of extended family and friends scattered around the world.
What was the most influential book you've read and why?
It’s a close call between Drive by Daniel Pink, which inspired me to take action at key periods in my life, and any children’s book I read to my son that helps him fall asleep before I do.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Fatherhood: For the significant milestones, the tiny priceless moments, and sometimes just sense of accomplishment from surviving the day—with gratitude to my wife and the village we’ve cultivated that makes parenting possible.
Bio
Tim joined Aspiriant in 2024 as a senior manager responsible for serving high-net-worth individuals and families in the Wealth Management group. He is also leading the launch of Aspiriant’s Professional Fiduciary Practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, a service designed to meet the unique needs of our clients in the region who require specialized support for complex financial and estate planning matters. In this role, Tim helps families and fiduciaries navigate these challenges with tailored strategies that ensure their long-term goals are met.
Tim is particularly excited to join Aspiriant, a firm with a sustainable, 100% employee-owned structure—especially after the last two independent companies he joined were sold to outside investors.
Early in his career, Tim focused on management consulting before transitioning to investment management in 2004—coincidentally, the same year Google went public. As the tech world underwent rapid transformation, Tim was developing his expertise in fundamental equity analysis, portfolio design and strategic wealth management, unaware that he would later work with many clients from the burgeoning technology industry. Since moving to Silicon Valley in 2014, he has provided seasoned advice and tailored strategies to high-net-worth families. Previously, as chief investment strategist for an East Coast wealth management firm, Tim honed his ability to guide clients through complex financial challenges—a skillset he now brings to his work with Aspiriant.
Outside of work, he dedicates his time to charitable efforts focused on food and housing insecurity in the Bay Area. When not chasing after his young son or exploring new restaurants with his wife, you can find him cycling the hills near his home or pursuing his quest for an elusive hole-in-one on the golf course.
