Aspiriant was recognized as a top wealth management firm on Barron’s 2023 Top 100 RIA Firms list and Forbes America’s Top RIA Firms list. These acknowledgments reflect our long-term commitment to deliver top-tier wealth management services to clients we serve. But recognition by Barron’s and Forbes is not just about prestige—ranking on these lists serves as a way for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families to vet potential wealth management firms who can help them meet their long-term financial goals through thoughtful financial planning and investment management.
Credible publications like Barron’s and Forbes evaluate wealth management firms based on a wide range of criteria, from the size and quality of the firm to the sophistication of the technology used and the diversity of the team. Firms that are ranked on these lists exceed these high standards.
In Barron’s 8th annual 2023 Top 100 RIA Firms list, Barron’s considered assets managed, technology, staff diversity, succession planning and more. Further, after firms completed a 102-question survey, Barron’s scored firms into three main categories: assets, revenue and quality of practice. Barron’s also considered qualitative factors such as credentials and degrees, charitable activity and compliance records.
Forbes, in partnership with SHOOK Research for the 2023 America’s Top RIA Firms, ranked firms based on an algorithm of quantitative and qualitative criteria like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience, best practices and approach to working with clients. SHOOK Research received 23,100 surveys and narrowed the Top RIA Firms list to only 250 firms.
High-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families can use credible wealth management ranking lists to find financial advisors that help them reach their long-term financial goals. These lists provide a valuable starting point, presenting firms with a proven track record of excellence. Below are some considerations to help select the right firm and you can reference these FAQs.
The independence of a firm and its ownership structure significantly influences its operations and client service. An independent wealth management firm operates autonomously, free from affiliations with broker dealers, custodians, large Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) aggregators or private equity firms.
Importantly, independent RIA firms are held to a fiduciary standard, meaning they are legally bound to act in the best interest of clients. An independent RIA firm that has broad employee ownership is in a position to align the interest between clients and employees.
Choosing a firm goes beyond financial planning and investment management; it should provide comprehensive services for long-term goals. Essential disciplines like estate planning, tax planning, philanthropic planning and insurance planning play a crucial role in holistic financial success. Firms that seamlessly integrate and coordinate these disciplines distinguish themselves.
A firm with multi-family office service capabilities, featuring multi-disciplinary experts, provides more detailed and specialized services. These may include accounting and banking, family governance and education as well as enhanced reporting.
Aspiriant’s recognition this year as an award winning, top wealth management firm by Barron’s and Forbes reflects our commitment to help our clients meet their long-term financial goals through thoughtful and proactive wealth management services. We believe that our client focus, independence, 100% employee ownership model, diversity and technology-forward approach remain important factors for industry recognition.
