San Francisco | Director - Wealth Management | Greg Schick

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

It’s the perfect combination of analytical and rational with personal and emotional.

What’s the biggest challenge?

Our Aspiriant environment of “friendly skepticism” keeps me on my toes and striving to improve every aspect of my work.

What do you love about being part of Aspiriant?

There is a clarity of purpose around client service that guides every person here, regardless of position or tenure.

What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

Being intimately involved with clients’ triumphs and disappointments, celebrations and tragedies, hopes and fears. The intensity and depth of our partnerships with clients has led to exceptionally high client retention at Aspiriant. Being honored three times by my colleagues – in 2005 when I became a principal, in 2008 when I was elected to the board of directors, and again in 2013 when I received Aspiriant’s Core Values Award.

How should people think about their wealth?

Our happiest clients are the ones who are engaged in their wealth. They’re not just accumulating it, they’re actively using it to enhance their lives, the lives of family and friends, or investing in their community.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Bike, golf, hike in the Bay Area’s wonderful regional parks, backpack, mountaineer and shoot wildlife photography.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working at Aspiriant?

I’d start a non-profit that focuses on providing financial planning to employees at other non-profits.

Career highlights:

  • Receiving a $1,000 gift from my grandfather at age 13, then researching ways to invest it
  • Enrolling in the University of Wisconsin’s personal financial planning program. After two years as a student I helped design and then teach the program’s capstone course.
  • Joining Aspiriant as an associate wealth manager, beginning my wealth management career
  • Becoming a principal at Aspiriant
  • Joining Aspiriant Board of Directors for a three-year term
  • Receiving Aspiriant’s Core Values Award

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

Hiking the John Muir Trail, climbing Mount Rainier, and photographing brown bears in Alaska.
