Education and accreditations:
- B.S. in Telecommunication, University of Florida
What was the most influential book you’ve read and why?
I love everything Malcolm Gladwell writes. However, “Outliers” is probably my favorite. He brilliantly combined deep research in sociology, business and numbers into a dissertation on the hidden outlying factors of success.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Aside from my marriage and the birth of my two children, there have been a few other special moments. When I left the Central Valley as a broadcast journalist, I was given a wonderful party which included a proclamation from the Lieutenant Governor naming it Orin Winick Day for the State of California thanking me for my years of service to the community. That was a pretty cool.
As the National Director of Investment Advisory, Orin leads Aspiriant’s focus on growth throughout the country. In this role, he manages various teams that execute on a strategic plan that helps define Aspiriant as one of the largest independent investment firms in America.
He joined Aspiriant in 2014 as a Director, working with entrepreneurs and business owners on their personal balance sheets as part of the family office team. While serving clients is still his passion, in 2016 he was asked to write a strategic growth plan and focus his time on building the future of the firm on a national level.
Orin has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving high net worth individuals, families and foundations. Prior to joining Aspiriant, he spent nearly four years as a Vice President in the Wealth and Investment Management division of Barclays; and eight years as a senior advisor at Merrill Lynch.
Before working in financial services, Orin was an Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist, anchoring television shows and covering news and sporting events for network affiliates around the country. As a sports reporter, he covered the ’92 Olympics in Barcelona and was asked to participate as a torchbearer in the ceremonial torch relay.
Orin has made service to the community a central part of his life and was honored by the California governor’s office proclaiming a day to be named in his honor for his charitable work throughout Central California.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Orin started working in his teen-age years as a Jones Beach lifeguard.
Orin is currently a member of the awards committee for The Association of Corporate Growth in Los Angeles and is on the Board of Trustees of the Chase Foundation, which is focused on Child Life services throughout the country for families of hospitalized children (chasefoundation.org).
Orin and his wife, Michele, are the parents of two wonderful children. As a family they enjoy swimming (Orin is currently training with a Masters Swim Team), as well as many other outdoor activities. They also enjoy music and the arts and feel lucky to be living in a city that is rich in culture.
