What do you enjoy most about wealth management?
The opportunity to make a difference in clients’ lives by working closely with them to achieve their financial goals.
What’s the biggest challenge?
Helping clients dream big about possible life goals. Before we work with clients, they often have a vague idea about what they want to do. We help them clarify their goals and understand what they need to do to reach them. This process also helps provide the context to help clients dream even bigger.
What do you love most about being part of Aspiriant?
The firm’s philosophy of providing clients with context for their decisions through financial planning.
What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
Making a career change from marketing to wealth management. I enjoyed my work in marketing, but I wasn’t finding the level of personal fulfillment I was seeking. So I took financial planning classes and started to work directly with wealth management clients. I’ve since found much more meaning in this line of work and have been extremely happy with the change.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Raising, with my wife, two boys who are growing into independent young men capable of leading their own lives.
How should people think about their wealth?
Wealth provides the freedom to do whatever you want in life if you use it wisely.
What quality of yours makes you best suited to what you do?
My almost two decades of work experience in Silicon Valley, ranging from startups to global companies, helps me to understand well the lives of clients coming from those types of businesses. I know the challenges of managing limited time to get things done and dealing with complicated financial issues such as how to handle employee equity, including stock options and restricted stock units.
What do you love to do outside of work?
Hanging out with my wife and our two boys.
