What was the most influential book you’ve read and why?
A tie between The Count of Monte Cristo and 1,001 Smartest Things Ever Said. Both caused me to look at situations from a different perspective, stay open minded, and to expand my worldview at a relatively young age.

Attention to detail.
How should people think about their wealth?
Financial security, leaving a legacy (i.e. providing for future family generations), and the opportunity to be philanthropic/make the world a better place.
What do you love to do outside of work?
Meeting new and interesting people, spending time with family and friends, reading, working out/staying active, and exploring NYC.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Building a strong network of friends who are diverse and genuinely good people, graduating from Florida State University, and graduating from the Broward Fire Academy and EMT school.

Robert is a Manager within the Investment Strategy & Research group at Aspiriant, his employer since 2010. Prior to 2010, Mr. Burns was a Tax Manager within the Research Group for Deloitte Investment Advisors (DIA), which was purchased by Aspiriant from Deloitte in 2010. Robert has over twelve years of investment industry experience in New York City. Current duties at Aspiriant include performing due diligence on investment managers (i.e. performing investment manager searches/evaluations and ongoing monitoring), aiding with the creation of integrated client investment mixes, performing general market research, assisting Investment Advisors/Wealth Managers with client requests, and working with the Investment Committee, which dictates the firm’s overall investment policies and strategies.
Prior to joining Deloitte Investment Advisors (DIA) in 2004, Robert worked in the Total Rewards function of Human Capital at Deloitte for nearly three years, providing investment consulting services to pension plans. Duties included due diligence on mutual fund managers, analyzing/monitoring pension plan performance on a quarterly basis, and producing market and economic research to meet client needs.
Robert received a B.S. in Finance from Florida State University and graduated Cum Laude.
